Cultivating Responsibility

A standard for the responsible wheat industry.

RTRW Foundation convenes farmers, millers, traders, industry leaders and civil society to advance globally credible standards that make wheat production sustainable, transparent and equitable.

Who We Are

Stewards of a sustainable wheat economy.

Wheat feeds over a third of humanity. Yet its production sits at the intersection of climate pressure, water scarcity, soil degradation and rural livelihoods. The Round Table On Responsible Wheat (RTRW) Foundation is a multi-stakeholder, not-for-profit organisation that exists to change that trajectory.

We build the standards, certification systems, accreditation frameworks and training infrastructure that allow the global wheat value chain — from smallholder farms to industrial mills — to operate with environmental integrity, social fairness and economic resilience.

Our Standard

Four pillars of responsible wheat.

The RTRW Sustainable Wheat Production Standard is built on four interlocking pillars — together defining what it means to grow wheat responsibly.

Environment

Soil health, biodiversity, water stewardship, responsible agrochemical use and climate-smart practices across the wheat growing cycle.

Social

Human rights, fair labour, gender equity, community well-being and the dignified inclusion of smallholders and rural workers.

Management & Ethics

Sound farm management systems, legal compliance, transparency, integrity and ethical business conduct across the value chain.

Quality

Food safety, hygienic handling, residue management, traceability and the consistent delivery of wholesome, high-quality wheat.

What the RTRW Standard Focuses On

Sustainability, ESG and responsible production — embedded in every grain.

The RTRW Standard is purpose-built to align wheat production with the world's most pressing sustainability and ESG priorities — giving producers, buyers and investors a credible framework to act on climate, nature, people and governance.
